Sporting venues

The East Midlands boasts a wide range of nationally and internationally recognised sporting venues including:

Many of these venues have and will host world-class events such as:
  • The Twenty Twenty Cricket World Cup at Trent Bridge in 2015. This international cricket venue received an investment of £ 8 million in preparations for the 2015 World Cup, during which it captured a global audience's attention and brought £6 million to the East Midlands.
  • The 2015 Rugby World Cup at Welford Road. The stadium had undergone a massive extension and, with its 24,500 seats, is now the biggest stadium in England.
  • The Heineken Rugby Cup at The Franklins Rugby ground in Northampton.
