Overview

England’s East Midlands is the UK’s premier logistics and distribution location. Excellent road, rail, sea and air links offer real business advantages, while land costs of 35% below the national average significantly reduce overheads.

At the heart of the country, the region enjoys easy access to the entire UK infrastructure. The M69, M1 and M6 motorways form a golden triangle here, putting an incredible 89% of England and Wales within four hours’ truck drive.

The UK’s major east-coast seaports are just two hours away, offering major benefits for distributors and exporters. In fact, Toyota exports over 85% of its cars through nearby Port of Grimsby.

East Midlands Airport was voted UK’s airport of the year in 2008 and Star regional UK airport in 2015 and is the country’s largest pure air freight terminal, home to DHL, TNT, UPS and Parcelforce.

The region also has excellent rail freight links across Europe, with two dedicated rail freight terminals; Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) and Corby’s Eurohub.

Operating out of DIRFT is Asda Wal-Mart, Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Costco and Toys R Us.
